Politics As Usual…

Anyone who knows me will tell you how much I HATE politics.  They are a joke.  Every four years, we have a bunch of out of touch senior citizens who bicker and debate like little kids over the best way to run the country we live in.  Everyone wants to make this country a better place, but can never agree on what “better” means because each side has their own selfish agenda of their own to push in the process and instead of coming together on some “common ground”, they continue to fight like school kids and continue dividing the country even further.  Now, for those of you who are lost and don’t know how things work around the politics in the Good Ol’ U.S. of A, let me break it down to you like this:  Politics generally operate like your well known street gangs.  They represent their colors (Democrats are blue, Republicans are red), they are led by people who will do whatever it takes to get to the top and stay at the top and they will use every dirty tactic in the book to get there and stay there.  These leaders have little soldiers (or minions) who work for them by going around doing the dirty work as well. You have plenty of illegal activity from extortion, to fraud, to blackmail, to narcotic distribution, to even more serious crimes (let’s be honest here, no one plays fair). They work to recruit people to support (or join) their party while in the process, slander and talk down on the other group and why you should steer clear of them.   They tell you what you want to hear so you will join their cause and when you do, that’s when you find out later on that you’ve been lied to, but by that time, it’s too late to do anything about it.  The other crazy part about it all is that there are actually these Independents who run as well, and some are actually younger, have some solid ideas, and just might make some kind of difference, but they never get elected because everyone feels like they HAVE to only vote Democrat or Republican.  There are other choices out there, but we ignore or fear it and run with the Democrats or Republicans.  We as a people complain about “change”, but still don’t do anything to make that “change” happen because we stay with the same old tired cycle of stuff every four years.

Now, let’s not just target the obvious, this political issue also trickles down to the smaller soldiers as well (you know, the governors, mayors, senators, etc.). There is so much dirt and grime in politics, the stain and funky scent that comes with it is permanent.  We have so many issues from debt, to homelessness, to inflation where the middle to lower class is struggling to even make rent these days and what is being done about it? Nothing.  The rich get richer, the middle class get poorer, and the poor go homeless. And let’s not get started on what some of them feel like is an accomplishment in creating “jobs.”  Don’t get me wrong, creating job opportunites is amazing, but how much does that REALLY help when the cost of housing is more than some are able to bring home?  Not every job is paying $50-60K and not every person has a college degree to net a high paying job that requires one.  Oh and college? Since I mentioned it, might as well throw in the rip off that is for a lot of people.  The moment you graduate from college is the moment you’re on the hook for paying back what you owe to attend.  I would say the moment you start is the moment you owe, but as long as you’re still attending, they won’t come after you.  The crazy part of course is that once you graduate, there is no “guaranteed” job out there waiting for you.  Nope, you have to go apply for one and hope you get hired.  I have had college graduates making the same amount (or less) of money my non graduate self was making at jobs because they were having hard times finding jobs in their field of study.  As soon as you graduate college, you should be guaranteed a job right there.  If you’re going to be paying twenty thousand dollars and higher for a piece of paper that says “Hey, I got good grades in this area I majored in”, then you need to have something waiting for you right at the finish line. I literally could go on and on about the problems that are plaguing this country, but I’ll stop here, take a breather, and come back soon with some more heat.
