Artist Bio

"Music is my life's diary.  Not to sound cliche, but I've been through alot and I have seen alot.  When you grow up not having anyone to talk to about what's on your mind because everyone has their own issues to tend to, that's when your pad and pen become your best friend."

When it comes to humble and unique artists, none come close to Chris Greene, better known to hip hop circles as "Static" or, "Stat" as he seems to have shortened it to as of late.  "I don't tour, I don't do shows these days, and I don't sell my music."  He says with a confident, yet relaxed tone.  "Music is my life's diary.  I'm not worried about trying to get my music out there, I'm just trying to get things off of my chest. Not to sound cliche, but I've been through alot and I have seen alot.  When you grow up not having anyone to talk to about what's on your mind because everyone has their own issues to tend to, that's when your pad and pen become your best friend.  I don't leave anything out in my music.  From the good, to the bad, my ups and downs, what I think about, you name it, it's pretty much there.  It's 100% me.  I never have and never will have someone writing songs for me or getting help with trying to create something 'catchy'.   What you hear is what you get.  I will say, when people hear it, it's pretty interesting with the reactions you get with it.  You have those who can relate to you because they have experienced the same things, those who use the music to speak for them, and those who just listen to it because they really vibe to it."

Rarely do you come across a talented artist who doesn't have a set "goal" or some form of expectation as far as where they want to go with the music they make.  With so many artists trying to make it in the industry or be the next to strike gold with a hit song, Stat's approach and mentality is something rare in this day and age.  "I've dealt with the business side of this industry before and it can not only suck the life out of you with all the shady and crooked things that can go on, but with the politics played in it, it can start taking the love out of it, too.  There are a million rappers out there and everyone is trying to do what they can to blow up.  The industry tries to change who you are into what it can market and sell.  It dilutes you.  I'm past those points.  All of this is done out of my love for making music and just putting it out there with no expectations whatsoever.  Don't get me wrong, I always have an open ear, and I am always open to ideas and suggestions, but in the meantime, I just kick my feet up, chill, and whatever happens, happens.  As long as I get everything I have to say off my chest, I'm good."  You would figure he would catch alot of odd looks, rolled eyes, and words of negativity at the approach, but Stat laughs it off in his trademark laugh heard all throughout his numerous mixtape releases "I'm a grown a** man.  I don't have time to worry about what others are thinking.  I ride in my own lane, I don't ask others to ride in it with me.  Don't like it, hop off my lane and ride in your own.  Simple as that, right?  The time you take to hate could be time spent doing something more productive to benefit you and your life. It all rolls down my shoulder anyways."

It's not all about the music with Stat though, he is working hard on launching his longtime BlackPrintz Ent. imprint, helping other artists, writing, and other things he won't speak on yet.  "BlackPrintz Ent is way more than music.  It's going to be much bigger because it is going to expand and reach a much wider audience.  It has always been a big focus of mine for many years.  You have heard it in my songs, seen a few small projects here backed by the name, but that was during a time when my sole focus was my music.  These days I want to take it beyond music and start working towards putting it at the forefront.  It will also be something that I will take a much different approach to than the music."  So, no kicking your feet up and letting whatever happen, happen?  "No, sir, this one here is not for recreation.  It's going to be a big deal.  Just watch."
