As The World Burns

Well, one thing I can definitely tell you is that NO ONE ever thought in a million years that the year 2020 would turn out like this. I mean, 2020 was predicted to be a special year, yes, but not anything like we have been dealing with for the past few months. This whole Coronavirus aka Covid-19 has been one for the books. When it first started, I was thinking it was just going to be like everything else that had come and gone (SARS, Birdflu, etc.), but this here has turned the world upside down. Never in a million years did I think I would see the whole USA on lockdown. No leaving home, no going to work, all stores and malls closed, and of all the stuff in the world I had to worry about, a damn toilet paper shortage. People were seriously hoarding toilet paper! toilet paper sold out faster than a pair of Retro J’s! When it came to taking that risk of going to a store it looked like everyone was dressed up as a Mortal Kombat character with their masks and bandanas on to protect themselves while our idiot of a president (yes, I purposely lower cased it because he means nothing to me) tried to get people to drink cleaning solution to combat the virus. Schools were shut down and graduations were cancelled (shout out to the class of 2020, I‘m proud of you all). All sports and sporting events were cancelled. WWE and AEW (both wrestling companies) were forced to hold their events in empty arenas. It’s been a very scary past few months that’s for sure. And now we are entering a time when, the majority of America is reopening and lightening their “stay at home” restrictions. Oh, by the way, no, the Covid-19 has no cure and people are still dying from it, but you know America: money over lives. Can’t keep the economy shut down for too long even if it means sacrificing thousands more dead. Gotta love this place, right? All I know is that I hope and pray we do find a cure for this virus before the fall season transforms into winter because the last thing I want is for this to happen again or even come back with a vengeance. I really don’t know what the future holds, but I sure hope it’s more promising than what 2020 brought us when we walked into it, that’s for sure. Stay safe out there y’all.

(Dedicating this post to the family of Shad Gaspard. My thoughts and prayers are with you.)
