Stupid Is As Stupid Does...

One of the absolute BIGGEST "pet peeves" I have when I am scrolling through my social media pages is when I see people posting things like "Free (insert name here)". Now, if you don't understand what I mean, obviously, you've been living under a rock, but it's ok, I'll be more than happy to fill you in. Basically, what I am talking about is when people have friends, relatives, boyfriend/girlfriend who are incarcerated, and they post things like "Free (insert name here)" in support of them getting out of prison/jail as soon as possible and regaining their freedom. Look, I watch TV, read books, and see issues all the time where there are plenty of innocent people who are locked up or people who didn't receive a fail trial and are suffering because of it, or even people who've committed petty crimes (not paying taxes, stealing candy from a grocery store) and are serving sentences that are more fit for hardcore criminals. I see this and my heart goes out to those people and I firmly stand behind those who post their "Free (insert name here) support. The people I am really talking about are those who are talking about "Free (insert name here)" in support of those who have either committed murder, a hard core crime, drug dealers, women/child abusers, or even a combination of any of those and are CLEARLY guilty of their crimes. I shake my head like "why in the hell are you talking about "Free (insert name here)" when they have CLEARLY are guilty of their crime and are serving the appropriate time given? What the hell do you want them free for? So they can go out and do the same thing again or something else stupid? Are YOU going to be responsible for keeping the out of trouble? In fact, where were you when the were getting INTO the trouble? I understand "love" and I have friends and people I'm close to who are currently locked up for various issues, but hey, I'm also a realist, and they did the crime so they need to sit their ass there and do the time. It's not because I don't like them anymore or don't care, but hey, you made the CHOICE to commit the crime knowing what the consequences could be so therefore, you need to man up and serve your time, get out, and reform. Now, I know it's petty and people don't know any better, but it just irritates me because to me, it feels like these people posting these support messages simply don't care about what these people did to get themselves in trouble and don't take it serious enough which is usually how these criminals get into the trouble in the first place or get out and repeat the cycle all over again. Instead of "Free (insert name here)" these people (if they care about these criminals enough) need to be putting together a serious gameplan for when they eventually get out to put them on a path to success so they can avoid getting into trouble again and staying stuck in the system. Support getting these people help instead of supporting their freedom for your selfish reasons. Just saying.
